Would You Wear It: Renee Zellwegger’s Patent Trench

Trench coats are a huge trend for fall and so is patent leather; if you combine the two, is the look a hit or a miss? Renee Zellwegger was spotted wearing a grey, full length patent leather coat and now fashionistas are clamouring to find less pricey versions to copy her look.

I love the look of patent accents - they add some much needed texture to basic outfits, and patent is perfect for accessories like bags and shoes. But the head to toe shiny can look a little too futuristic and costumey.

To pull off a coat like Renee’s, keep the rest of your outfit simple - let the coat be your standout piece. Also if you want to add a little bit of luxe patent into your wardrobe, remember to limit it to one item per outfit - don’t overdose on the shiny stuff!
